Replace the clipboard and the text thread
On most jobs, snagging happens in WhatsApp threads and handwritten lists. Items get missed, statuses are unclear, and you're playing phone tag with subbies to find out what's been done.
RenovateIQ Business gives every project its own snag list. Each item is raised, tracked and resolved in the app — by you, your client, or your subcontractors — with a clear status at every stage.
Three statuses, always clear
Every snag item moves through a simple workflow that everyone on the project can see:
- Open — the issue has been logged. Red, so it stands out. You know about it and it needs attention.
- In Progress — someone is working on it. Orange. The subcontractor can update this themselves when they start the fix.
- Resolved — the item is done. Green. The client is notified automatically when a snag is marked resolved.

Who can raise and resolve snags
You (the contractor)
Raise snags during walkthroughs on iOS or from the web dashboard. Move items through statuses as work progresses.
Your client
Clients can log issues directly in their app — with a description and an optional photo. You're notified straight away. No more issues arriving by text days later.
Your subcontractors
Subcontractors see the snags relevant to their work. They can raise new items and mark their own as In Progress or Resolved as they go.
Separate channels
Client snags and sub snags are kept in separate views so you don't mix client-facing issues with internal snagging between you and your trades.
Why a dedicated snag list beats a text thread
- Nothing disappears. Issues raised in messages get buried. A snag item stays visible until it's marked Resolved.
- Clear accountability. Every snag shows who raised it and when. No ambiguity about what was flagged or by whom.
- Automatic notifications. When you resolve a snag, the client is notified without you having to chase them or send a separate message.
- Evidence at handover. A clean snag list — all Resolved — alongside a client sign-off is a strong record that the job was completed and accepted.
- New issues after sign-off. If something comes up after the client has signed off, that's a new instruction — not a snagging item. The record makes this clear.
Available on iOS and web
You can manage snags from your iPhone on site or from the web dashboard at your desk. Clients raise issues in their app (iOS). Subcontractors update statuses in their app (iOS).
Everything syncs in real time — the moment a snag is raised or resolved, every linked user sees it.
Frequently asked questions
Can clients raise snags themselves? +
Yes. Clients can log snag items directly in their app. They describe the issue, and you're notified immediately. This keeps everything in one place rather than arriving by text or call.
Can subcontractors see and update snags? +
Yes. Subcontractors linked to a project can see the snags relevant to their work and mark items In Progress or Resolved as they go.
Is the snag list separate from messages? +
Yes. Snags are a dedicated log, separate from the message thread. Each item has its own status — Open, In Progress, or Resolved — so nothing gets lost in conversation.
Can I attach photos to a snag? +
Yes — photos can be attached when raising a snag on iOS, so there's a visual record of exactly what the issue looks like.
Is the snag list included in my subscription? +
Yes — snag lists are part of every RenovateIQ Business subscription at no extra charge.
